Web Guy: What kind of bike are you riding?
Officer: I'm on a 2006 Deluxe which has been perfect for me. It's comfortable for long rides and has a low center of balance so it's easy to handle.
Web Guy: How long have you been a rider?
Officer: I started out riding two-up, but felt that I'd like to be able to ride out on my own more. I love riding alone so it meant getting my own bike. So in 2005 I took the Riders' Course and got my endorsement and had a new 2006 bike waiting for me.
Web Guy: How many miles do you average each year?
Officer: Right now I have about 45,000 on my Deluxe. I ride to work when at all possible, try to make a least one or two rides just out alone a month and then join our group rides. I'm certainly not a 'fair-weather' rider.
Web Guy: How long have you been a hog member?
Officer: Since joining NCHOG in 2004 I have wanted to encourage women to ride more, either two-up or solo. I was happy to become LOH director in 2008 to try and establish more rides that women would feel comfortable on.
Web Guy: What has been your favorite ride?
Officer: A ride that I have really enjoyed is what I call the 'Ride n' Splash'. I have done this alone several times and decided to take a group in the summer of 2009. We ride out over Hwy 20, arrive at a nice small motel with a swimming pool.(where they have hot sunny weather!).. then the next morning take a leisurely ride in a loop only to wind up at another small motel with a pool...and then back over Hwy 20 and home. It's a great ride, with a mellow pace and lots of time with friends. I'm looking forward to it this year.
Web Guy: Tell me a little about yourself?
Officer: Well, after growing up riding work horses, then raising a dog team and living in the bush, then farming in Hawaii....riding a motorcycle just seemed like a nice progression in my search for adventure. I have always liked to experience new things and love being outdoors. Since I was little I always loved to get up before the sun and be out 'going somewhere'...so what better way than to see that road while on a bike. Paul & I have been married for 29 years & raised three daughters along the way. We came to Washington because it offered so much outdoor activities in a beautiful place and there's trails to hike, coast to paddle and great roads to ride. |
