Web Guy: What kind of bike are you riding?
Kathy: I ride my 2008 FATBOY! Ohhhhh if I only had this to take on the Florida trip back in 2004. But my 2003 Sportster Hugger did just great on that ride. I'll be giving the Sportster to my son (that way I can keep it in the family).

Web Guy: How long have you been a rider?
Kathy: I've been a rider since 2003.

Web Guy: How many miles do you average each year?
Kathy: About 10,000 miles a year.

Web Guy: How long have you been a hog member?
Kathy: Since 2003 when I got my '03 Hugger

Web Guy: What has been your favorite ride?
Kathy: Riding to Florida and back. But those FBR rides are pretty awesome too!

Web Guy: Tell me a little about yourself?
Kathy: Growing up in Seattle, WA and raising my two sons was great, but I finally started living....... once I bought my Harley.. I also love making jewelry, working with pottery, and building websites. Meeting people is always another favorite thing of mine and getting to know them. I always over extend myself and keep myself way too busy, especially now that I have a couple grandsons. But I'm never ever bored. Having Bruce in my life has shown me there is True Love. Love could not be better, well.... except it could include a hot tub. I've traveled to England, Italy, France and far up into Canada. But nothing compares to the Harley ride Bruce and I did to Florida and back. (see I'm back there again.....) it's so easy to get lost in my thoughts of being on my bike riding Route 66. Can't wait for the next time. We try to make all the HOG meetings but living in Sultan sometimes makes it difficult to be gone most of the day to a meeting. Just getting to and back from a meeting is a ride in itself. We of course take all the back roads coming home. Seeing everyone at the meetings is so fun we really try to not miss any.

NOTE FROM MIKE:

Like many others, I started riding in college. I was too poor in those days to afford a bike but there were always several in our social group and generally one for me to ride. We had strictly Harleys plus one Indian. That ’47 Chief was my usual ride. All these bikes were pretty much junkers so you rode ’em, then fixed ’em and sometimes you fixed them in mid ride.

Those were good times. But like many others, along came the raising of a family and responsibilities (and relative poverty) and biking just became a memory.

So finally, after all those years, I bought my first bike in the fall of 2001. It’s a 1988 Heritage Softtail and it definitely has the retro look that I wanted. Since then, I bought an FX Springer and I confess that’s my favorite ride but I’ll never part with the Heritage.

I edit the NCHOG Chapter newsletter and, although it is a big job, I like doing it and feel that the newsletter, like this website, keeps all of us together a little bit, even when we’re apart.
