Web Guy: What kind of bike are you riding?
Officer: 01 FLHTCUI: Ultra Classic or as I like to call it - "my road sofa."  You might get there faster than me, but I am going to get there comfortably.

Web Guy: How long have you been a rider?
Officer: I have been riding since 1964.  As soon as I learned to ride a bike without totally tearing myself up, my dad put a Briggs & Stratton 5 HP motor in my bicycle and my two-wheeled rides have been motorized ever since.

Web Guy: How many miles do you average each year?
Officer: Not including this past year I usually do about 10- 15,000.  Due to a collapsed disc in my lower back this past year, I do not think I totaled 500 miles .

Web Guy: How long have you been a hog member?
Officer: I became a full member in 2001 and became a life member in 2009.

Web Guy: What has been your favorite ride?
Officer: This goes way back, even before HOG was born and there was no Iron Butt Association.   In 1981 I bought my first H-D, 78 FXS Lower Rider, and over a weekend (leaving after work on a Friday) I rode from Key West Florida to New York city (with a buddy who had just bought his new H-D) and back to make it in time for work on Monday morning.  That would include getting stopped in Macon County Georgia by sheriffs and having shot guns pointed at our heads late at night.

Web Guy: Tell me a little about yourself?
Officer: I am a southerner through and through.  For those who watch college sports, "my blood runs orange".  I was bred and born in the south and enjoy the southern states very much.  In 2001, after 24 years and a couple of marriages,  I called it quits and left the navy.  I have travelled the world and have seen things that a lot of people just wouldn't understand.  I believe that makes me a more open person.  I like a good challenge and am a very bad looser.  I joined the chapter just before retiring from the military and have held positions as secretary (2002 & 2003) and assistant director (2004).  My wife and I moved to Tennessee in 2005 but we never left the chapter.  In 2008 Cheryl threw her hands up and decided she wanted to move back to her home Skagit Valley,  so of course all I could say is "yes master."  I try to enjoy life and not worry about everything because we all end up in the same place at the end and I want to be able to say, "I was rode hard and put up wet."
